Many a man have stumbled and fallen
into a rut, off a cliff or in love
I walked a path that without my knowing
led me to a country that I didn’t grow up in
It led me to an oak tree blocking the road
Fallen through age, but in a storm of woe
I counted the rings of its trunk
It lived through wars and had probably seen it all
Lucky for me my past and my present are split
like the tree, in two halves and i can admit
look like heaven or hell at first, but
I am not cursed

After some years I saw I was a recluse
My reflection replied “who or what are you?”
Mirrors lie sometimes, but nope, not today
Worker Bee wants complacent me out of the way
Too much distraction in late night TV
I’ll kick a habit by going cold turkey
Give me a pen and i’ll write on anything
Give me a break and i’ll fly to England
Secrets i’ll take with me to my grave
A small price to pay for satisfaction these days and
As I draw my last breath

The washing machine is on a constant cycle
